http://www.politico.com/blogs/anneschroeder/0209/King_will_come_to_Shulers_defense.html

This week Rep. Heath Shuler admitted that the stimulus should have been done on a bi-partisan basis, saying “I truly feel that’s where maybe House leadership and Senate leadership have really failed.” This, as you can imagine, didn’t go over well with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s camp. His spokesman Jim Manley, on the record, went to that go-to stop with Shuler, questioning his football talent. (Shuler was a disastrous NFL QB at best.) “Let me get this straight – this coming from a guy who threw more than twice as many interceptions than touchdowns?” Manley said in response.

When Shuler heard about this post he said: “Those interceptions are proof that I am willing to work with both sides.”

Well I don't think Shuler is going to be as pushed to run against Burr as he was before. If he were to run I would have no problem with him as Senator eventhough I would support, campaign and vote for Burr. He would probably end up being another Zell Miller. If he would switch parties I would support him for Governor in 2012 or Senator in 2014. This guy is one of the few Democrats who isn't in the tank on Immigration.

Great line.

How many TD's did Reid or this Manley fellow throw in the NFL?  That was a real jackass move by them and Shuler comes out looking better anyway.

I'm still not quite sure who would fair better against Burr - someone elected statewide like Cooper or some anti-Democratic Blue Dog from Western NC.

He was known as the "Boxer from Searchlight" I believe.  He used to have a lot more spirit in him.  Let me dig up my Reid thread on the Congressional board...

You should never, ever, be surprised at what little old guys got up to when younger.

Its good to know not every democrat worships at the altar of the messiah.  And Shuler is right...there was absolutely nothing bipartisan about the bill.  In fact the only bipartisan thing obama has done has been to have a few Republicans over for cocktails.

Not really.  I was just curious.  Is it real?  Was it photoshopped?  Did he mean to give the finger or was he pointing to something and used the wrong finger.

Despite playing for the hated Redskins, Shuler has officially crossed into FF territory.
