Now if we actually had real press in this game, I would be getting a PM right now asking to do an interview about the poll results. Wink

Just saying. Tongue

What is this Rasmussen?

Atleast he didn't compare us to our RL namesake. They had a much better record in early 2009 when I created this, then they do now. Tongue

Can someone do some analysis on these poll numbers?

Senators can be right-wing, centrist or left-wing and yet be popular as long as they are active and not surrounded by controversy. Plus, it may help to be a regional right-wing Senator from a generally conservative region or a left-wing Senator from a liberal region.

This is reasonable speculation, and it should go without saying that the sample size renders the polls unreliable as indicators towards potential electoral performance.

Yes, indeed. Sample size is one factor that must be taken into account and we should also consider that some voters might disapprove of a Senator's performance and still vote for him in the next elections.

The Pacific has always been difficult to poll. Polling JCPers in the Pacific is like polling Democrats in NV. Grin

It's hardly representative to put all of the senators together unless you ask all Atlasians if they approve of the regional senators as well.

Fuzzy got TWO votes... I got 23.  You got 5, NCY... I don't think it's fair to say you have 100% approval.  AL senators always get screwed in these polls.

Not so. They are typically mixed. You will notice the top three contain 2 At-large and 1 Regional Senator. Whereas the bottom three contain 2 Regional and 1 At-Large seat. Of the top 5, only 1 is a Regional Senator. Looks like someone is getting screwed, it ain't the At-Large Senators considering 4 of them are in the top 5.

Approval is based on constituency. How well a Senator serves or represent that constituency determines what their approval rating is. Size is really irrelevant.

And keep in mind I have done these combined lists for two years, save for a few times when I forgot or didn't have time. It's not like I just started doing this because I had 100%, and wanted to show it off.

Participation is always an issue. It's one of the drawbacks of polling like this. I am fairly certain Fuzzy has a much higher approval rating then 50%, considering the political leanings of the midwest.

Then this is just an argument for getting rid of regional senators and making all 10 seats at large.  It is kinda ridiculous to make 5 senators responsible to everybody and a select 5 only have to please a small constituency... in Fuzzy's case.. two people voted in the poll.

At least you recognize that regional senator approval ratings are completely worthless.

1. That is certainly an unbiased interpreation. It's an arguement for a more active citizenry amongst all parties, but especially amongst the party that always underpolls NV style and has done so consitently going back to Feb 2009, the start of our polling.

2. On the contrary. In 4/5 regions the polling confirms what we can generally expect to find. We see that Napoleon has regained some lost ground but is very divisive, that Bgwah maintains support consistent with the partisanship of his region according to the June results. Office is struggling due to weak activity and his views, but he hasn't done anything to be controversial so he still is in positive territory. And I will decline to comment on what the polling in the IDS says. Considering the low samples, I would say we are getting some pretty damn good polls that are atleast very reasonable, if not fairly accurate.
