Guy's obviously given up on being re-elected.

Perhaps Steele will tap him for his brand new hip-hop makeover.

Cao pulled an interesting move too because leading up the revised conference committee-adjusted stimulus, he told the media he was likely to vote for the package.  Boehner is pulling Cao's strings though.

The guy may be dead meat generically, but I doubt NO cares much about the stimulus bill. It is all so well - theoretical - other than the Rockefeller dimes as it were that government will be tossing out to those not earning a lawyer's salary.

So you oppose the stimulus? Smiley

Some of it. Frankly I have not studied it closely (I am too busy with my R and R activities), but overall it seems to just be an excuse for the government to spend money. I doubt it will make much difference, but I could be wrong. What is needed is to get assets repriced promptly and back into the market place, and this dog does not appear to be engaged in that hunt.

I'm sure these "ministers" would have supported Cao if he had voted yes on Porkulus.....

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you can't recall a federal official.

So did the article get it wrong or was the group of ministers just really, really stupid?

It's pretty clear that there are no moderate Republicans and that Cao isn't bothering to try to get re-elected.

I've never heard of the ability to recall federal officials. Even in Louisiana.

Surely such a movement would've begun against Vitter a while ago if it was legal.

I cant post an article because im on my phone, and working the ticket desk at a school basketball game, but i just read it in the newspaper and figured i should spread the news.

Apparently, a group of black New Orleans ministers have begun an effort to recall Cao based on his opposition to the stimulus package. It sounds like it probably won't go anywhere but I don't know how easily recalls are started in this state.

It's a shame that a conservative like Cao won't likely have a political future. Sad  The only chance he has is if he primaries Vitter and wins (lol).

Cao would have lost the general if it was held on election day instead of a hurricane-modified special election.

It's not really that much of a shame if Boehner and Cantor won't let their f***king congressmen vote with their districts.  B &C are obsessed with whipping up the vote on every GOP issue instead of future electoral prospects.  Like,  B & C organized a mass GOP rejection of the digital TV bill which had passed the Senate unanimously.

True. His vote against the stimulus ensured that he will be the ultimate one term wonder, but he gets that full term.

Actually, when you think about it, would Cao think that he has more of a future as a elected Republican from LA-02 or as a statewide elected Republican?

I think I know the answer...

Is this some sort of trick question?

Maybe it's rhetorical...

I suppose Cao has a better chance of primarying Vitter than he does of getting re-elected (considering that 2-3% or so is higher than 0%.)

Cao is probably thinking a little lower than that.  Like one of those Insurance Commissioner, Agricultural whatever, whatever.
