Ok...Let's say Rocky doesn't Withdraw his name from nomination in '59 and is able to oust Dick in the primaries and the convention to become the GOP nominee. His narrow victory over Nixon, makes alot of the GOP Regulars unsure about his candidacy, so Rocky chooses the current Treasury Secretary and Personal Ike Favorite... Robert Anderson of Texas. Due to butterflies of Rocky running, there is a tougher primary battle for the Democrats causing Jack to go with his first choice in Senator Symington of Missouri.

So how does the electoral situation play out in the battle of the blue bloods...Can Rocky pull of a victory with Ike valiantly supporting his campaign? Does Anderson add Texas to the GOP Ticket...Please discuss

Maybe something like this :

Rockefeller would probably have won by a tight margin.

Here is what Im thinking...Anderson, will really help Rocky in the South and especially Texas, but he still runs a Northern Campaign, targeting working class voters and urban blacks. Kennedy, however without Johnson runs a change based campaign somewhat based in the south. In my opinion here is the most likely scenario...

Rockefeller/Anderson: 281 Electoral Votes
Kennedy/Symington: 237 Electoral Votes
Independent Electors: 19 Electoral Votes

The Best Scenario for Rocky...

Rockefeller/Anderson: 370 Electoral Votes
Kennedy/Symington: 167 Electoral Votes

The Best case scenario for Jack Kennedy...

Kennedy/Symington: 387 Electoral Votes
Rockefeller/Anderson: 150 Electoral Votes

Don't you think that Rockefeller would have done best in the northeast ( traditionnally republican ) by carrying Connecticut and his home state by a solid margin ? Whereas Kennedy would have done better it southern states : he could carry Oklahoma, Kentucky or Tennessee.
Personally, I would have hestitated : Rockefeller is one of the rares republicans I appreciate.

Well the problem is you have two Native Northeastern Liberals at the top of the ticket. Although they had about the same amount of experience...Rocky still was Governor of a Big State, and I think, popular as he was at this time in his home state could pull of New York and New Jersey on a ridicuosly slim margin. Although Anderson makes it hell of a lot closer than it was IOTL, vote stealing by LBJ and Mayor Dayley are barely able to keep those states Democratic. Picking Symington proves to be a huge downfall for Jack as it erodes his Southern Base of Support.

Without Johnson on the Democratic ticket, and with Anderson on the Republican ticket, Kennedy loses Texas.  Anderson had a distinguished record of public service, and would be thought of as someone capable of becoming Vice President.

Rockefeller manages to swing the key states of New Jersey and Illinois, and therefore the election, into his column.

Rockefeller/Anderson                    287
Kennedy/Symington                      231
Undeclared Electors                        19

We Pretty much had the same results lol, except I still think Daley would still find someone to swing Illinois to Jack Kennedy as well as LBJ doing his fair share of cajoling to steal votes away from Rocky. But I think Rocky would have no porblem getting New York and New Jersey's electoral votes thereby narrowily winning him the election.
