My listing:

1-Pete & Pete (This should  not even be disputable.)
2-Salute Your Shorts
3-The first season of Welcome Freshmen before they decided to make it all serious
4-Ren & Stimpy
5-Clarissa Explains It All

Isn't Clarissa Explains It All basically the only kids' show ever that had a female main character yet was targeted at both genders?

Depends on what you mean by 'old school' Smiley But being roughly the same age as you I have to agree with 1, 4 and 5 which were shown here. Great shows.

Most of the stuff on Nickelodean today is so awful I'd probably force my kid to watch Weeds instead of anything on it.

What Would You Do?
Wild and Crazy Kids
Rugrats
Doug
Salute Your Shorts

In no order really.

And Hey Dude gets a mention for the theme song alone.

Hey Arnold! was basically the only show I really loved on that network. Salute Your Shorts and All That were great as well. I even enjoyed Shelby Woo.

Are You Afraid of the Dark? is responsible for a lingering fear of vampires that I struggled with long after I knew that vampires don't actually exist.

I barely recall a lot of these.  I did like Salute Your Shorts.  The only thing I remember about Hey Dude was this one "whisky is bad for you" episode that I saw when I was young enough that I didn't really know what whisky was.

Hey Dude was hilariously awful. I still kind of have a soft spot for it though.

Oh man, do you remember that episode where that kid bought some novelty X-ray specs which actually allowed him to see ghosts, which were everywhere.  It still gives me the willies, thinking about things that are there even though we can't see them.  Scary things Sad.

The first episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark? was the scariest by far.

They weren't ghosts, they were these beings from another dimension, dressed creepily all shrouded in black. That was a creepy one.

Pinwheel
Today's Special

Wow, you are REALLY showing your age. I haven't even heard of the first three.
