The first episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark? was the scariest by far.
Seriously? I always thought that was one of the worst. That show was a major influence on my life though, I have to admit.

Personal Top 5:

Secret World Of Alex Mack
Are You Afraid of the Dark?
Rocko's Modern Life
Hey Arnold
KaBlam!

Honorable Mentions:

Adventures of Pete and Pete
Doug
Rugrats (Pre-1998)
Angry Beavers
AAAH! Real Monsters

The above isn't necessarily in order. Also, starting around late 1998 everything started to go downhill.

Doug
Rocko's Modern Life
All That
Hey Arnold

And, dare I mention it, I loved Clarissa Explains It All. Especially the awful "video games."

Special mentions:

Pete and Pete
Keenan and Kel
Salute Your Shirts
Invader Zim (not early, but oh well)
Are You Afraid of the Dark?
Ka-Blam!
Angry Beavers
Cat-Dog (for the theme song at least)

And another show I forgot that featured junior high/high school kids. I can't remember the name of it for the life of me, but I don't think it was Welcome Freshman (need to look up some clips to be sure) and it may have actually been on the Disney channel. Whatever, I need to go to bed.

Of these 6, I couldn't decide which to bump because they were all outstanding:
Pete & Pete
Are You Afraid of the Dark?
Rocko's Modern Life
Doug
Rugrats
Clarissa Explains it All

Yes it was Welcome Freshmen and it was on Nickelodean. First season was great, then they decided to make everything all serious in the second for some reason and it jumped the shark.

OMG! I forgot that show! That was the one where people from the audience got turned into puppet people at the end and had to play some game, right? It was always on at like 5 am in the morning, so I only got to watch it if I woke up super early before school.

Dude same... I used to watch it during breakfast... it was on after Alvin and the Chipmunks, but that doesn't really count as a Nick show...

I'd also like to add Legends of the Hidden Temple to my list up there.

I only had Nickelodean as a very young child and then again once I was in middle school.. but I never watched TV...

I remember liking the Elephant Show with Sharon, Lois, and Braham back around 1990 or so... and whatever that show was where they dumped goop on your head if you answered a question wrong.

Otherwise I was totally into Scooby Doo.

Since I grew up with 7 channels (I know.. I'm deprived) I had to watch network stuff.. but I loved Tailspin and Darkwing Duck and Duck Tales... my sister had a crush on the cartoon version of James Bond Jr. when she was like 5...

That's about it.

Weinerville was most certainly a Nick show. I remember watching in the afternoon, generally.

Not reading the thread and just looking through the old shows at wiki (and only picking shows that were originally aired on Nick):
5All that
4Kenan and Kel
3aaaahhh!!! Real Monsters
2Angry Beavers
1Animaniacs

I own most of the Animaniac DVD's.  I'll live just fine if I never see any of my other four picks again.  4 and 5 were just desperation choices anyway.  None of these shows have aged all that well.

I was confused by this telling me it was on from 1993-1995 (and 2001-2003).  You are correct, it isn't a Nick show.  They (Nick) suck even harder then.  Should we expect any better from an MTV channel?
