I don't think Michael Steele used to be this way.  After days of hearing stories about Steele sending out "slum love" to Bobby Jindal, declaring the GOP to be the "urban-suburban hip-hop party," etc. I'm starting to wonder what happened to the guy.

I can't find the article, but I remember during his 2006 Senate campaign that he was quoted as bringing "the hood to Washington" or something like that.

Yeah, I'm sure Steele doesn't care and isn't offended. It looks bad to lots of ordinary voters, though, the same way it does when a politician dances really awkwardly on stage.

If she weren't from Minnesota she might actually know how to speak African American Vernacular English.  Any black person speaking the dialect would say "you da man," not you be da man." Be is followed another verb and denotes regular action. For instance "he be postin' on the Atlas Forum" would mean "he posts on the Atlas Forum" Black English is a systematic way of speaking, not just a muddle of "bad grammar" that you can bend to any whim.

I'm pretty sure that Michael Steele is white at this point. Only a white guy would go out of his way to act so "black".

     Steele is transparently acting. You don't see other respectable, prominent black politicians behaving in such a manner. Sometimes I wonder who he thinks he's fooling.
