Believe me....wanting to ban things is a European hobby.

Thanks for putting words in my mouth.

I object to this paranoid, and utterly pathetic mentality of banishment we have going on in this country, and the seemingly endless rationalizations we dream up. Ban smoking, ban sharp edges on playgrounds, prohibit non-helmet riding, ban drugs, etc, etc. We'd prohibit breathing if we thought turning blue would get us high.

We should ban the idea of banning things being banned.

How did I put words into your mouth?  You answered yes to the questions, and added a GD for emphasis.

You asked me a question I'd yet to answer, and then you wrote "you've got to be kidding me", as if I'd agreed.

You said:  "Yes, finally. Goddamn it." which pretty clearly implies that you have answered the question.  If somehow it does not and you actually have "yet to answer", then I apologize for any offense, even though I don't really follow how you can answer yes to a question but not answer it.

You asked me if I think NOTHING should be banned, and at that point I didn't answer yet. I answered "Yes, finally" to the thread question in a humorous way. [/semantic argument]

Well...ok...  Normally, when someone says "yes" in a thread with a yes/no poll question, it is interpreted as saying "yes" to the poll, so that is why I thought you were saying yes to the question.

No!

We need to retain the ability to ban some things.

I rest my case.
