A new field poll gives Kerry a blowout win against Edwards, 60-19, according to Daily Kos. The regional breakdown as follows:
                                         Kerry   Edwards   Undecided
LA County                          57      20            13
Other Southern CA            67      15            9
Bay Area                            59      22            8
Other Northern CA             58      16            19

In a general election matchup, Kerry beats Bush 53-41, and Edwards beats Bush 51-42, although the numbers are extremely fickle. Last month they had Bush beating Kerry 48-39 and Edwards 48-36. A bin Laden capture could just give Bush the lead in CA again, spelling serious trouble for the Democratic nominee.

Bush's approval rating has fallen to 43% in the state, the lowest since the beginning of Sept. 2001 (41%).

According to Daily Kos, Field Poll is rarely wrong, whereas the LA Times was giving Bustamante something like a 13 point lead in September 2003.

Although Edwards is in California today and tomorrow for the debate he is spending $0 here and has pretty much ceded the state to Kerry. In fact he is only focussing on OH, GA and NY. He is really putting all his eggs into the "Soutnern Tuesday" races next week, but this cherry picking has to end sometime or how can he claim to be a real candidate
