I mostly hear "wi-[key]-pedia," which I regard as the "correct" pronunciation. I nonetheless always pronounce it as "wi-[kuh]-pedia." Option 1 just seems too awkward.

Any fellow heretics?

Never heard or considered that it would be anything but wik-uh-pedia.

Well, it depends.  I normally shorten it to just "wiki" and say "wi-KEY".  As in, "have you looked at the wiki for it yet?"  When I do say the full word, I do the wi-KUH thing.

Option 2. It sounds less ridiculous.

I think it's obviously option 1 if you're being formal, since "wiki" is obviously pronounced only one way in Hawaii

BUT in colloquial or common English, that is, 95% of the time, the "kuh" should be used in order to ease the flow of the word.

Option 2, seeing as how I'm not a fan of glottal stops.

Option 2, as I'm not Jimbo Wales...

Wik-ee for short... like everyone else.

That's closer to how I pronounce it.

Finally, the sensible option pulls into the lead.

I asked the gf, who has strong connections to Hawaii since her family is all from there and visits there frequently, what people in Hawaii say, and apparently it's the second option.  This is surprising to me considering where the word wiki comes from.

I still maintain that in formal speech, the first one should be used.

How do you pronounce "kilo," and how do you pronounce "kilogram"? For that matter, how do you pronounce "meter," and how do you pronounce "kilometer"?

Option 1, largely because I use the word "wiki" a lot (We use a wiki at work.)
