At yesterday's Senate Budget Committee markup of the fiscal year 2010 budget resolution:

Sen. Kent Conrad (D-ND): "Oh, you are good."
Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA): "Well, your wife said the same thing."

Conrad probably did provoke him with the "I used to like you" line, but Grassley's insult was clearly uncalled for and offensive.

it's too 'out there' to be offensive at all.  any reports on Conrad's reaction?

kind of a lame response:

Conrad didn't miss a beat. "She did, she said you were the biggest hit of all the speakers at the event," he replied.

Did he mean that she said "you are good" in reference to Grassley himself?

Ha! I bet Grassly is impotent. Soon, he will have the title of "Impotent Boy", the current Impotent Boy is Bob Doly.

It's not as awesome as it sounds if you watch it on the C-Span website.

He's still amazing though.

Can't stand Grassley anymore.  In Obama's first stimulus legislation, it was Grassley who put the hammer-lock on the New England Republicans negotiating the details and insisted that a good bit of the budget be devoted to one-year's worth of AMT tax relief, and that very ATM "patch" ended up totaling about 10% of the entire bill's total cost.  Grassley got this massive chunk out of the bill, then voted against it anyway.  He calls himself a statesman?

Incoherent tweets, calling AIG executives to commit harakiri, now that.
Is there a pattern here?

Was anyone watching C-SPAN a few months ago when Grassley was on the Senate floor talking about SNL's Land Shark?

I don't understand the outrage in this thread. I'd like to think that our Congressmen are all buddies and like to give little jabs at each other. What's wrong with a little "That's what she said" back and forth?

Granted it was on CSPAN so you probably want to save that stuff for the backrooms when you're all joking around, but it's all in good fun.

I don't really care about Grassley's comments.  I'm still outraged about his behavior on the stimmulus bill, and probably should have posted it elsewhere.  But, when I see them name Grassley now, I can't seem to help myself.
