....of just one million dollars.  Rasmussen via the NY Post so take with a large amount of salt.  Still, idiots.

Nah, they aren't that dumb.  Certainly on the same road though.

That's actually a pretty low number. I'm willing to bet it's much higher everywhere in Europe.

Ideally everyone would have a $1 million salary cap.

Ideally everyone would have a $1 million salary cap.

What do you think happens then...considering that Canada, Europa, Japan don't have it?

(I guess you're assuming that everyone has it....but that would pose a problem if the U.S. were the only one to implement that).

I'm opposed to the idea on principle, of course.

I don't know why the government should interfere with employment arrangements among consenting adults (where the government is not cutting checks of course).  Do the toxic effects of jealousy and envy lead to such economically and morally bankrupt notions?  Apparently so.

Oh, it's not feasible, sure. But no one really needs more than $200,000 a year to live comfortably, and everything above $1 million is just a ridiculous waste.

I want to cap the salary of every person that supports this ridiculous proposal.

Oh, Phil. The people who likely support this proposal already have their salaries capped pretty low by the circumstances of poverty, lack of education, lack of access of health insurance, probably living in unhealthy and polluted areas, etc.

Oh, I know. It's still stupid and there are still idiots that live comfortable enough that love to engage in class warfare.

If this is class warfare, I wonder what a proletarian dictatorship looks like. Smiley

Lol @ people who don't understand supply and demand.

Here's an idea: If you don't like their wages, don't watch their games.

1 out of 3 Americans have a ridiculous concept of what is "fair", and what it means to be "free".

When the economy gets bad, do Americans get dumber?

So? This isn't the first time that 1 out of 3 Americans have said something really stupid.

Not dumber per se, just more irrational.

Pretty stupid idea, but "stars" and athletes still get way too much money. But that's not the government's problem.

Agreed. Now how many of these 1 in 3 are season ticket holders that help these athletes get all that money. Or how many go to the movie theater every week?

As for movie stars, while I oppose socialism, since most of these stars (and I use that word loosely) support socialism, if we were to socialize the entertainment industry, these stars would be the first to complain.

Ha, that sums me up perfectly.

Not that I would support this, but no one who actually thinks about it actually would. What I would support is some sort of system tying the salaries of CEOs to the lowest-paid worker in the company, something like no one is allowed to make more tha 20x than anyone else in the company.

While I'm not a fan of that idea either, I must say it's infinitely better than a hard salary cap of $1,000,000 a year.

Exactly.

I wouldn't exactly cry if salaries were capped for these people, but that's not the road I'd like see, unless it came from the industry itself, not legislated, or mandated by government.

The people actually paying them don't think they make too much money. That's good enough for me.

Oh, Phil. The people who likely support this proposal already have their salaries capped pretty low by the circumstances of poverty, lack of education, lack of access of health insurance, probably living in unhealthy and polluted areas, etc.

And why would that make sense? The optimal firm structure may involve employees with enormous differences in productivity.
