Amusing story. But you'll have to try a little harder to really demonize those pesky "green" laws.

Maybe I was just trying to be amusing and not trying to demonize?  I make fun of my political opponents, I try not to make them out to be evil.  That's a trap that many fall into and it leads down paths I'd rather not take.  "green" laws clearly are not "evil".  Often stuipd/pointless sure, but not evil.

(notice I said "often" and not "always")

So in effect, these "green laws" are leading to increased CO2 emissions due to people driving all the way to Idaho to buy detergent AND increased use of water because people who aren't "smuggling" are having to wash their dishes by hand as well as in the washer.  Way to go Washington.

lol people would drive to Coeur D' Alene from Spokane at least once or twice a month on average. It isn't as if these people are only going to Coeur D' Alene for detergent, both cities are very close together. I didn't even know this law existed, I've never heard the local news covering this because absolutley no one cares.

The rest of the article mentioned that several other states in the NE have this kind of law, so I don't understand how it is such a big deal.

That is what the article said.  They have hard water in Spokane and apparently hard water and green detergents don't clean well together.
