Fortunately this has no binding power whatsoever.

Isn't passing laws to stop the critique of something always a sign that the thing in question is full of sh**t?

Because it doesn't harm us in any way as this type of crap is easily ignored?

You mean the United Nothing?

India is right, this is another double standard. This only prevents Islam from being criticized, probably because it is "racist". Christianity and Judaism can still be bashed, despite this resolution, because of freedom of speech.

It's just forcing us to sit there and listen to people have free reign while they insult us and our values. It's a form of masochism. There is plenty of good the UN does, but that kind of stuff could be accomplished without them.

Agreed, stupid proposal.  Fortunately, it's also pretty meaningless.

To demand the equal protection of all religions would hold no hypocrisy. To single out one in need of protection when it under persecution is noble, especially by those not part of that community. Would that such a standard existed when Jews were under such threat.

As a liberal I am compelled to oppose the persecution of any religious tradition anywhere, discrimination against its believers, any attempt to obliterate a tradition, and above all any physical abuse of Believers. Should Islam or Muslims be under such threat, then I will strenuously defend Islam and Muslims.

Who needs that protection? It is censorship. A fool asks to be spared of seeing what he wishes not to see; a wise person knows enough to close the book or avert his eyes when offense begins.
