Could be 1 in 20 of course.  Still, if I were the DSCC...

Wow, Dodd really sucks.

Who are you making fun of when you use titles like this and "BREAKING"? I haven't seen anyone else here use labels like that.

Actually wasn't making fun of anyone here, brittain.

I was just surprised at how far Dodd's position had fallen to the point where he was losing to third-tier unknown Republican candidates.   That constituted an actual *shock* to me.  Smiley

Dodd is the Democrat's non-senile Bunning.  I wonder how Generic (D) holds up against these Republican candidates.

I'm sure Dodd can dirty up "too conservative for Connecticut" Caligiuri and his four point lead would evaporate but Simmons sitting at 50% is really good news.

Can Obama just give Dodd an appointment to somewhere in the state department?  He speaks Spanish, so Politico's Smith suggested an Ambassador to Mexico.

Yes, please! Senator Simmons even earlier thanks to Governor Rell.  Wink

Well, he could accept the appointment when his term is up fairly easily.

anyway..

Asked whether they plan to vote for Dodd for reelection, just 35 percent said "definitely" (eight percent) or "probably" (27 percent) while 59 percent said "probably not" (19 percent) or "definitely not" (40 percent).

After his beatdown by Glenn Beck, he might want to rethink that.

Yeah, I imagine that Glenn Beck's word is the gospel of truth in Connecticut.

And then he's gone in 2010 and the seat is safe. It's not much different than Bunning's threat to resign that you brushed off.

What % of the undecided electorate in Connecticut will have seen that interview by election day?  0.1%?

Uh, how is he automatically gone and the seat is suddenly safe? Simmons then has an incumbent advantage and he's a moderate.

I don't know how Bunning's threat (which I brushed off) is related. Dodd isn't threatening to resign. It was an idea that Lunar came up with.

I'd like to see Chris Murphy as the next Senator from CT.

Simmons was an incumbent who lost in a House seat that's more Republican than the state at large. The Democrats are favored in any CT Senate race with a non-tainted incumbent, that's pretty obvious.

Yes, he lost in a horrible year.

Just because he's from CT doesn't mean that he'd definitely be a goner in a midterm election.

Dodd won't run in 2010.  It will probably be someone like Murphy or Himes.  Menendez already said that he's backing Dodd all the way which can be translated as Dodd won't run.
