Yeah, its a month late in timing, but I was hoping to have an atlas "championship" of 64/65 forummers done through a series of polls here. Who knows how long the playoff would last.  (Apologies if someone has done this before, but I will do a new one).

First things are first,

I need names for the 4 "regional" brackets  (I was toying with the Dazzleman, Leip, Yates, and Gabu Regionals) but if any of you have better names (Perhaps a Xahar regional) feel free to suggest them.

Second, in a few days I will be asking you to rank the entire ACTIVE membership of atlas (please do not put in all time greats who do not post much if anything anymore).  When I ask for it, please send a PM with your rankings (this may allow us to have some suspense on selection day).  The first place poster on your ballot will receive 64 points and so on until the 64th poster receives 1 point.  I will then bang my head against the table and calculate these things (preferably with something more high tech than an abecus).  You may put me on your ballot--please?--but regardless if I am there or not--please?--i swear to tabulate fairly. (You will just have to trust me).

Third, I am also going to auto bid certain posters should the voting public decide not to keep them out...there will be no smoke and mirrors. I will simply take the person, who must be ACTIVE, from each color avatar group with the most posts and place them in the field regardless if they make the top 64/65 (thus a person who may have been 63rd may not be in at all).

Fourth, once all the teams have been selected, I will use the S-curve (for all you college basketball freaks to seed the teams).  I reserve the right to adjust each person one seed up or down to have balanced brackets and/or create better matchups.

This will not be started this weekend FYI, though once the intial work has been set, if anyone wants to help run the polls with me, feel free to PM.

Thoughts/Suggestions/Vulgarities welcome.

When I ask for a ranking--i realize I wasn't entirely clear--you will send a ranked ballot of 64 names 1-64 (dear god, no ties please).

Ok those are the auto bids, but when you submit your ballots, include them so I can seed them.

Actually, Start sending your votes, I'll keep this open a week or so. And I'll give 24 hours noticed when I plan on closing voting.

Er, what do the teams do once formed? Or am I missing the forest through the trees here?

Just the mother of all poster matchups. (to borrow the phrasing of a certain departed dictator.)

That and I'm incredibly bored.

Interesting ballots thus far, I admit that there are some surprises with regards to some picks (their rank) and snubs.

So I make a ballot with 64 members and rank them 1-16 seeds in 4 brackets? Can I leave Cleveland State out of this one?

Oh Come on!  There will probably be more controversy over the seeding and snubs than the actual voting!

(Everyone else, submit your lists!)

Seriously. Seeding 64 people is annoying, but if only a few people do it then we'll end up with very bizarre seedings.

As the top non-avatar person, do I get auto placement too? Cheesy

I suggest maybe the top 32 post-wise and the top 16 post-per-day wise, with the remaining 16 being be nomination.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I am going to stick with the plan I outlined at the beginning.

It would be nice to have a copy and paste of a bunch of names feature available. The idea of manually typing out 64 names causes me to perspire sitting still in my chair. Heck, I am not sure I could even  think of 64 names all by myself.  Smiley

Well why don't you PM me your list, and I will move the names around as needed, or add or subtract. Tongue
