TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A new poll released by SayfieReview.com/PowerPlay shows that Florida CFO Alex Sink and Attorney General Bill McCollum are essentially tied in a potential race for Governor in 2010 – and Gov. Charlie Crist would be a strong candidate, should he decide to enter the race for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Mel Martinez.

The poll, conducted for SayfieReview.com/PowerPlay by Mason Dixon Polling & Research, found that in a potential high-profile race to succeed Crist for governor, 35 percent of voters would support CFO Alex Sink, versus 36 percent for Attorney General Bill McCollum. The results, within the survey’s margin of error, make the race a virtual dead heat.

Sixty-seven percent of Florida voters would ‘consider’ or ‘definitely’ vote for Gov. Crist for U.S. Senate, according to the poll of 625 Florida registered voters, conducted by Mason Dixon between March 30 and April 1. The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent.

“It’s clear that 2010 is shaping up to be the most exciting political year in modern Florida political history,” said Justin Sayfie, publisher of SayfieReview.com. “SayfieReview.com will continue to provide our influential readership with up-to-the-minute news on Florida politics as the election season draws near.”

This survey is the first political poll commissioned by SayfieReview.com/PowerPlay.

“These numbers reflect the fact that Florida’s future leadership is far from determined,” said Ron Sachs, executive producer and host of PowerPlay, featured on the Sayfie Review. “PowerPlay will continue to keep our finger on the pulse of Florida as the state’s political picture plays out.”

The exact poll questions, answers and demographics on these two races are included below:
