It may be appropriate in some limited circumstances, where the threat of "ethnicity-based" violence is real.

Well as a practical matter, what does the prison do that is not 'by force'?

I voted yes, of course, as a rape-reduction strategy.  But the unfortunate necessity should be emeliorated by giving the African-Americans the best digs.

I voted Lean No, because there are instances when races should not be inter-mixed in prisons. Gangs can form and become dangerous to inmates. But unless there is a true threat, segregation shouldn't be the norm.

Race-based gangs dominate a lot of prison life unless you are in the separate housing used for snitches and pedophiles.

Race based gangs are a much bigger problem than the very over blown prison rape problem.  Of course prisons should seperate by race if it makes it safer for everybody involved.  I'm pretty sure prisons wouldn't do it just to help whitey.

Well that's precisely who it would help.  They're the ones in the minority in prison, and their the number one target for the rapings you poo poo.

Well obviously the guards at 'female prisons' will rape the inmates, but I doubt its all that common in the regular ones is it?
