That seems to be a rather rare opinion of mine. It might've had to do with pre-watching expectations, but whatever. After watching The Wrestler I had initially planned on going to Target afterwards to pick up some basic stuff but afterwards I didn't as I didn't feel like going anywhere, even Target. I just went to my apartment to wind down and didn't leave to Target for like two hours.

I had to stop watching it. It was a nightmare. I need to exorcise the memories.

Am I the only one who didn't feel that way about it? I thought it was a bit too cartoonish. The Wrestler seemed faaaaaaaaar more real.

this probably happened to you simply because of shooting style; a) The Wrester was shot with a 16mm (I think that's the number) handheld, whilst Requiem wasn't, and b) Requiem employed an insane amount of cuts/splices/whatever intentionally

Requiem For A Dream seems like it would be much harser. I haven't seen The Wrestler but that movie had me depressed and feeling odd for a long time.

Which one?

The Wrestler. I don't think I have seen Requiem for a Dream. I am told the latter is much more tolerable in  the gross out category, plus apparently has more sex and drugs. Smiley

How far did you get? Sounds like you were just turned off by the graphic violence in the wrestling. The actual story material gets much worse after that.

Yes, I see what you mean.

More realistic, more accessible, and thus perhaps more effective at transporting the message.
