Just curious.

Snacks don't count as a meal, of course. Include seafood as a meat.

Me too, unless you don't count fish as meat, then my 100% becomes like 66%.

If you count eggs as meat, then probably 85%+ since eggs are a wonderful and versatile food that is underused in traditional American cuisine outside of disgusting Southern breakfasts.  I make vegetarian meals for myself plenty but they're the exception rather than the norm.  If you use lean meat like chicken [pork loin, turkey, etc.] you can throw in some ripe cornerstore avocado and some swiss and make a decent sandwich even on cheap-ass discount Safeway bread.

On the other hand, I am true to my freckled ancestry and love potatoes and have been recently addicted to patatas bravas [without mayo] since I came back from Spain.  I really think there needs to be a section of the food pyramid for fake vegetables like potatoes and corn that are really just carbs

Probablya significant percentage of my veggie meals made at home are veggie pastas that are less-than-healthy due to their use of olive oil and cheeses.  another significant percentage is probably stereotypical canned soup.

interesting question though.  I wonder how my diet compares to our cavemen ancestors in terms of meat-veggie ratio

I voted 70-79% on the guess that three-quarters would be a good estimate. But, on reflection, it's definitely much lower. I rarely eat meat at lunch and never eat meat at breakfast (makes me sick), so probably closer to one-third.

At school, probably 1/7th of my meals contain no meat/seafood and another 1/7th have seafood and no meat. At home, I eat more healthier no meat meals (veggie stir-fries, veggie lasagna, etc, rather than pizza), but eat less meat and more seafood.

Most of them now. I am under orders to eat 150 grams of protein a day. It isn't easy to accomplish that.

50% most days, but a lot of that is poultry or seafood. And actually, I wish we had more good fish at the cafeteria. I miss all of the catfish, tuna, salmon, etc. from home. We rarely get much of anything besides cod... Which I generally don't care for. But I compensate by going down near the docks or the supermarket to pick something up instead most of the time I really want something.

Catfish sauteed with Malibu spices and garlic cloves is delicious and cheap.

Around 60%.  I hardly ever have meat with breakfast since I just have toast or cereal.  With lunch I have meat about 75% of the time and with dinner, nearly every day.

What is southern breakfast anyway?

I think breakfast here is pretty typical for the U.S... other than you're probably more likely to find maple syrup with it than elsewhere.

I can't stand eating cereal and all that now. Way too sweet. If I have breakfast at all it's pretty much the same as lunch or dinner, maybe with an omelet or soup.

Are you taking supplemental protein? I failed to do this without supplements even with moderately high protein meals at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Ya, I have started to. I put this power in with egg whites and orange or grapefruit juice and and a couple of strawberries, and blend it all, as my breakfast concoction. It gives me about 25 grams of protein. I might have a small amount of cereal too with a bit of milk for an extra five grams. And then I chew on pumpkin seeds (the is the highest protein nut I could find), slip some cheddar tofu on my tortilla with lean white turkey slices for lunch, maybe munch on a couple of more slices over the day with a protein bar, and then try to figure out how to make up another 50-75 grams at dinner, which isn't easy, because I just can't manage to get down now a whole steak.

And then there are the hormones, but we won't get into them. Smiley
