Is that supposed to be ironic or something?

Maybe they just can't read.

Well, it looks like "constantine" and that's the way I always read it. I don't call him that here though.

Either they don't read it closely, or are trying to be funny.  It's pretty pathetic, in the latter case.

When I first joined, for quite a while that's what I thought his username was. Then I realised it was Benconstine. I think it's predominantly misreading his name.

I just thought of him as Ben.

The name Ben always reminds me of Ben Linus now.

He did once argue that the reason the state of Israel is legitimate is because God promised the land. So yeah, starting to sound theocratic. (Worth noting, this is the exact same argument used by Hamas.)

That doesn't sound like me.  Are you sure I said it?

This is not the homeland of the Jews, they invaded, forced out and killed the native population:
see here.

After 3,000 years, it becomes our homeland.  And besides, G-d promised it to us.

Okay.  I've never made it since, and like I said, I don't like that argument.

How many lines of argument haven't you subsequently backed away from?

Sort of, except that:

1.  I've only made that argument once.
2.  I backed off of it pretty quickly, saying I disliked it.

Plus, I believe I've since said that it is not a good argument, and I think I may have criticized Josh for using it.

The problem is that it was such an inane argument to begin with.

I think I typed his name wrong once on a fantasyland ballot.  It was an inadvertant misreading of the screen name.  You glance at a long smushed up word too quick and your brain interprets it differently.  I highly doubt anyone's stupid (or clever) enough to mistype it as a joke.

Supersoulty did the same thing in a speech once.

Wow, I was just re-reading that thread I linke to and it got even better!

There is a small rabbit in a room, surrounded by 12 angry, snarling wolves.  The wolves all pounce on the rabbit, but when the scuffle is over, the rabbit always comes out alive, no matter how many times the wolves attack it.

What does this metaphor mean?

That the rabbit is pretty damn lucky, and...ummmm....irrelevant?

You're right about the rabbit, but this is a relevant metaphor, once you figure it out.

While me and others point out how much of a horrid and stupid analogy it is. Then it comes to this:

Yes, it might be relevant if Israel's military force was comparable to a rabbit and all of its neighbors comparable to wolves. Rather than the other way around being more accurate.

I suppose it makes more sense in the original war for independence, back in '48; its lost its relevance now.

then why bring it up now if you weren't trying to make a point?

I thought it had a point; turns out I was wrong.

Hahahahahah. I love how he acted like he was making some deep point, then instantly realized the whole thing was bullsh!t.
