Ok...Let's say the move to dump Nixon in '56 is successfull, which leads to Ike choosing Conneticut Senator Prescott Bush as his Vice President. OTL event's happen pretty much the same, and Bush is able to clinch the nomination with out a major challenge. He selects Arizona Senator Barry Goldwater to appeal to the growing Conservative movement within the Republican Party. The Dem race is essentialy the same as in OTL

So how does the electoral map turn out?

If favorite son Nixon just barely won California, I doubt that Bush would do it at all.

I don't think I'm the only one who thinks that Goldwater wouldn't have been on the same ticket as Bush.

Kennedy : 54%, 360 E.V.
Bush : 46%, 169 E.V.

Kennedy easily paints Goldwater as a dangerous extremist, that permits him to win many traditionally republican liberal states.

I actually think 1960 Barry Goldwater would be a much better VP pick than in 1964. He had voted for the 1957 and 1960 Civil Rights act and still fresh off his book The Conscience of a Conservative. He's the best way to unify the party, and since him and Jack were such good friends I think the Campaign would probably very civil...But I think Bush/Goldwater would win out as they would better able to articulate themselves as heirs to the Esinhower White House.

Prescott Bush/Barry Goldwater: 291 Electoral Votes
John F. Kennedy/Lyndon B. Johnson: 238 Electoral Votes
