What would have happened if Gustav Stresemann, the German Minister of Foreign Affairs, had not died on October 3, 1929?  Would he have been able to prevent the rise of Nazi Germany?  Would WWII still have happened?

I'm not sure if you're familiar with the website alternatehistory.com, but somebody did a timeline on this (if you're willing to read through 900+ posts that is): http://www.alternatehistory.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=89874&highlight=holding+hero

There would have been less chancellors before Hitler and so, my German Chancellors Survivor (International General Discussion Board) would have been easier and shorter !

Come & vote in the German Chancellors Survivor !

I think the real key was Prussia

Hitler would not come to power without abolishing of legal Prussian government of "the lion" Otto Braun. Prussia was not Nazi stronghold, and was the biggest state of the Reich (look at the map and statistics).

You not going to rule Reich without Prussia!

If Papen didn't take care of Prussia, Gleichschaltung would have.

That's what was so ironic about the Allies "abolishing" Prussia after the war. Prussia had been the center of opposition to Hitler and was by far the most democratic and best-run part of the Weimar Republic! And once Hitler snuffed out his left-opposition, the remaining opposition to Hitler in the army, came from conservative but anti-Nazi Prussian Junkers.
