I did. I don't understand why so many people didn't. You get to hang out with friends and learn things all day. What's not to like?

The learning things part always seemed much more overwhelmed by the "unnecessary busy work" part and the "extreme suspicion of anyone under 25" part.

Loved it, if only because of the large nucleus of fellow math nerds I had surrounding me.

Parts of it have been fun while parts have been miserable. Alcon's right though, way too much busy work.

Freshman year - Hated it (ended up leaving that school).
Sophomore year - Eh, ok. Amazing compared to Freshman year.
Junior year - Awesome.
Senior year - Good.

College was 100 times better than High School.  All the good things about High School are better in College and most of the bad things about High School stay in High School.

Not really, but it wasn't all bad.  Overall- Mixed.  It was all guys, but fairly easy academically.  I was f-ed in preparation for college though.  Had some good teachers, activities moderators (To Phil: Fr. Hurley was the best), and friends. (BRTD don't have a stroke here..)  It was however FAR better than the local public schools, but if I lived in the suburbs there was no way I'd go to Catholic school.  In retrospect, I would have looked into the magnet public schools in Philadelphia- Masterman and Central.

Socially it was fine, but academically I feel like it was a lot of wasted time and busy work.

Not seemingly relevant in the long run, looking back over the 12 years since.

Mixed bag.

Pros:
1. I had a few awesome teachers. The best were my freshman year art teacher Mr. Green and my senior year English teacher Mr. Parejko. The two of them were not afraid to tell the more idiotic and lazy students what they thought of them.
2. Decent curriculum. It was a public school, and it wasn't perfect, but it was a pretty good school. There was busy work, but there was a fair amount of real learning as well.
3. I was in a rather comfortable zone between the outcasts and the popular kids. Most people knew me and most people weren't jerks to me even if I wasn't part of their cliques. There were also a fair amount of smart people who I could hang out with.

Cons:
1. There were quite a few dumb people. A few of them really got on my nerves. This weighs heavily. I enjoyed college much more since there were far fewer of this sort at Georgia Tech.
2. I didn't really do any dating. Kind of wish I had, but the couple of crushes I had were more lust than anything so I never really took any action on them, and there weren't any girls interested in me who I liked.

High school was a lot of fun, but college has been a million times better, and the people who still dwell on high school are f ckin losers.

I generally hated it. I viewed most of my teachers as dumbs, and unfortunately that perception was all too often all too accurate. High school activities also bored me; I found them jejune. In senior year I was largely absent anyway, taking classes at UCLA under a special program.

I kind of would  like to go back to high school now. I think I could make it a bit more useful experience. Smiley

Eh, mixed. Beat the hell out of middle school and a good chunk of college though. The thing I liked about it is that the social hierarchy and clique politics started dissolving and by junior year were pretty much gone. By senior year there was no more division: we were all seniors.  I was hanging out with people I HATED in middle school. That was rather cool.

Hated it of course.

I was very, extremely out of place.  That said I was also in my mileu and no doubt the one that defined me.

To be 'rich' in a poor place, and 'smart' in a stupid one was an absurd experience.  I've had nothing but fun since, at least when I have any money, but I'm not really relevant to the great wide world.
