This is a great idea and I'm willing to volunteer my help if you want it!
Some ideas:
First, you might want to move this to Individual politics - it has more traffic.
Second, the first edition of this had the option to give immunity to one leader by the first voter. I think it might be a good idea to revive, perhaps for the initial rounds at least.
Third, most observers seem to agree that Putin plays the leading role in the Putin-Medvedev duumvirate, so he should be placed instead of Medvedev.

I think also that you should include the Vatican, due to the great influence of the pope.
Also, shouldn't you include Western Sahara, as they actually have wider recognition than Taiwan?

As to the first question, you should list Khamenei, and as to the third, replace Palestine with the Vatican.

South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Transnistria are artifical makings, manipulated from abroad. NO. 0%, 2% and 0%.

The same is true of Kosovo.

This message board is clearly racist against non-crackers.
Abdullah can pass for white.

I have seen quite a few white people which are darker than him.

Group Three:

Alexander Lukashenko, Belarus: 14 votes
The first unambiguously white leader expelled (of course, Khamenei and Abdullah are white even by the American definition...)!

I have broken a tie between Uribe and dos Santos, again favouring Uribe in a tiebreak, but with good reasons.
What reasons?

Here's a map of the countries eliminated in the first 15 rounds:

The forum doesn't seem to like African and Asian leaders.

Interesting, I was thinking of doing something like that, and also including a colour for countries that have at least one vote. Thanks, GMantis
You're welcome! Unfortunately, the map doesn't show a lot of small countries - for example, Fiji is marked with a dot.

Round 18 will be immunity round, with the first poster to claim immunity for their preffered leader in each round giving that leader a pass through to round 19.
You mean each group?

An update of the map. Lighter colour signify countries, whose leaders were eliminated in rounds 16 and 17.

We are now past the halfway mark! Here's the updated map:

The shades of red in the Atlas key show how many votes the country has received. Five and below - 10%, between 5% and 10% - 30% and so on.

Yushchenko losing is notable as he was in the final 10 last time.
He hadn't been President of the Ukraine for 4 and a half years then. His fame as a hero of the Orange revolution has been completely overshadowed by the incompetence of his administration.

Another embarassing round for the forum. Sigh.
What's so embarrassing about eliminating Harper and Douglas?

I'm bewildered that I even have to argue about this. CANADA? The only way one can argue that Canada is not one of the best countries in the world is if one is a radical right-winger. I will just post one example: Bayar of Mongolia. Do you seriously, really, really consider him a better leader than Harper? I find that hard to believe of anyone.
We're not judging the greatness of countries here (that has been done elsewhere), but of their leaders. Leaders as human beings, can do only as much as the country's resources (I mean any kind of resources - physical, economic, demographic) permit them. Therefore, I generally believe that leaders should be judged on how they have influenced their country and especially for powerfull countries, how they have influenced other countries. It's widespread opinion that Harper has not had a good influence on Canada or on the wider world, and in any case he isn't responsible for Canada's current position, which is why he was voted off. Sierra Leone is a far worse country than Canada, but considering how it was before Ernest Bai Koroma came to power and his personal responsibility in attempting to improve it, I regard him as a better leader than Harper. And the same arguments can be made of many other Third World leaders.

I think it's too late for change.
I'm also against immunity and other variant rules - it's too disruptive.

Here's a map of the second stage. Red is group 1, green is group 2.

Hm... Are you quite sure you selected the groups randomly, Hughento? Smiley

Shouldn't these be the thirthy-third rounds? Since two leaders were eliminated last round.

Well, congratulations to Hughento! Not only did you manage to lead a very lengthy competition to completion without almost any hitches but on top of that, spawned a survivor craze on the forum Wink.
And the winner perfectly fits the principle that country leaders should be judged on their merits and not on their countries, so despite all partisan shenanigans, the forum did a pretty good job in selecting the best world leader.
