More news from our incredible shrinking "political party."  (I'm putting political party in quotes as political party implies a relevance to American society that we do not have at the moment)

He has since been re-invited, apparently Ms. Voorhees made her decision without talking to her committee.

Of course this is stupid (Conservative Republican/Civil Unions supporter)

But, like usual, I worry that Don is trying to apply this school of thought to most of us.

Well, I agree with you in that I think Don likes to paint with a broad brush.  But I also don't always lump you in within the base...I think you're a tad too smart to be with them.  (and I don't mean in the politically wise sense not to be grouped).

But answer me this, the conservative base...the same ones who turned their backs on that gay speaker at the 2000 convention...wouldn't try to have civil unions proponents shunned if not excluded from the party?  Yes or no, and why?

I don't understand the question and I don't know what you're referring to when you speak of a "gay speaker at the 2000 convention."

I am a part of the base. I'm sane. People pick up on fringe activities and always attribute it to most of the base. There are obviously fringe members that don't want anything for gays - no marriage, no civil unions, no military services, etc. I'm sure they'd try to shun me, of all people, out of the party for being in favor of civil unions but if anyone thinks that those people make up a majority of the base of this party, they're crazy. That's exactly what Don is doing. He loses on something and throws a fit. He's a big baby.

I don't understand the question and I don't know what you're referring to when you speak of a "gay speaker at the 2000 convention."

Congressman Jim Kolbe, who is openly gay, spoke on our Party's position on free trade issues.  A number of members of the Texas delegation, who were obvious due to their large hats and presence on the front row, turned their backs and bowed their heads to show disespect to Kolbe because of his sexual preference.

Ok...and they're dopes. What's your point? "A number" does not come close to a sizable showing when we're talking about a convention with close to two thousand delegates.
