Well, the nomination process is over in about 20 minutes.

Do nominations count that have not been formally accepted?

While quite suprised and delighted at a nomination, I won't be seeking the position as PPT.

Not actively. But certainly you will accept votes?

If people vote, well you have to respect that, even if it's a writ in for an Egg McMuffin Smiley

In my opinion afleitch never "announced his candidacy for the position". Therefore I'm only going to put Jedi and Happy on the ballot.

Sue me if you wish.

Heh, we should rename this thread PPT Declaration Thread from now on. We don't even need to second or nominate. They just need to declare intent.

To both candidates;

I have never served in this Senate. I have no idea what sort of Senate either candidate will run.

Tell me about yourself before I cast my vote.

I have been an active PPT and have served well I feel.  I have managed to steer many bills toward passage and frankly I see no need to change.  MasterJedi is one of the best members of the Senate however as I said, I have done nothing wrong and see no need to change what is already working.

HappyWarrior has been a good PPT and kept the senate moving along rather well. But it could still be sped up a lot more. He's not online as much as I am. Though I may not be logged on I do lurk and see if anything needs to be done.

By being online more I can quickly close all sorts of votes on bills which allows the Senate to move along faster and this is exactly what I did when I was PPT before. Another thing I did was quickly open up final votes after no debate for over 24 after the required 72 hours. I also plan on PM'ing Senators who haven't voted when bills are lagging which usually gets them out faster and then I was also in the habit of PM'ing the President when the bills were due to be signed if they didn't get on it as fast as they normally did.

All of these practices will lead to speeding up the Senate while not actually rushing debate time. When I was last PPT we had some of the most active Senate sessions and I would like to see that return by efficeintly running the Senate.

I don't know about Happy, but I pm'ed the president whenever a bill arrived on his desk.

I didn't know if anybody else did it, I could only talk for myself. I do know our current President doesn't listen to PM's at all.

He's been fairly responsive to me.
