I actually heard a few potential PA voters on another message board mention this as well...I never thought about that, but he'd have obvious problems with the base.

Wow, that's just what the GOP needs. A former Bush cabinet member responsible for the current color-coding system that basically everyone regards as a total joke.

OMG Yeah it was such a joke that Obama got rid of it!

Oh, wait... he didn't.

Ridge would be good if America was still focused on national security.  I'd rather see Ridge as a future SecDef.

He's not using it either. It hasn't been changed since he took office.

I think some people are forgetting the obvious problem: Ridge's lack of campaigning skills. It's been over a decade since the guy actually campaigned for something and his 1998 campaign was a joke anyway.

The color coding system was misused, but it wasn't a bad idea. Ridge is a great politician that I would definately vote for.

Obama started running for prez more than two years after being elected to the US Senate though.  Ridge would have to start running about three months after taking office.  He wouldn't really have time to do anything at all in the senate before he starts running for president.  And Ridge already has enough experience that he doesn't need to add a few months as senator to his resume before making the run for president.  If he's really interested in running for president (which I don't think he is), then it would be a waste of time to do the senate run first.
