I assume this is because the Senate now does have the enumerated powers to address this? I am all for it.

This bill does nothing to legislate on asbestos 'in situ' which is far more dangerous than any current or future use/trade in asbestos. I may introduce an amendment to fund the safe removal of all asbestos used in public and private construction up to the late 1980's.

If you write an amendment to do that I'll accept it as friendly as long as you allow for the repeal of this bill so aesbestos is banned again.

I'll give Afleitch through Monday to announce or write an amendment to this. Otherwise a final vote will take place.

Thank you. Understood. I had taken some time over this, as the original legislation was..awful. Despite the intent.

Repeal of the Aesbestos Ban Amendment Act

1. F.L. 12-5 is repealed.

2. The importation of, mining of, transportation of, sale of, use of and application of Asbestos within the Republic of Atlasia is banned.

3a. The federal government shall financially assist the removal of and disposal of any asbestos in situ within private and public property.

3b. The federal government shall financially assist the removal of and disposal of any asbestos known to contaminate drinking water.

3c. The Senate shall provide funds of some $100 million for that purpose.

4. Section 3a shall not apply if the asbestos in situ is known to be Naturally Occuring Asbestos.

I would just recommend that be formatted as an addition to the original asbestos ban act.

Based on PurpleState's suggestion might I suggest to Afleitch and everyone this instead:

1. F.L. 12-5 is repealed.

The following shall be added on to F.L. 9-14 which shall be re-instituted following the passage of this bill:

7a. The federal government shall financially assist the removal of and disposal of any asbestos in situ within private and public property.

7b. The federal government shall financially assist the removal of and disposal of any asbestos known to contaminate drinking water.

7c. The Senate shall provide funds of some $100 million for that purpose.

8. Section 7a shall not apply if the asbestos in situ is known to be Naturally Occuring Asbestos.

I know it's my bill, I just want to get support from Afleitch since he wrote the stuff before I put it into affect as the final version.

Agreed. I'm happy with it.

The reason for Section 8, is that we feasably cannot remove thousands of square kilometres worth of the stuff where it occurs naturally. However if it is drinking water and can be removed, it should be.

Unless there's any actual debate I'll be opening this up for a final vote within 5 hours.

I can only relish the thought of being called "useless" by a Senate which is content to pass the same laws over and over again!

You removed the restriction, congrats. It can still be put back into place. This bill removes this and ads on to the old legislation which is a good thing. No reason to not pass this bill.

Did you read the text of the executive order?

Yes, did you read this bill? It gets rid of the bill that originally placed restrictions on even though it's not around anymore and adds on to it. So it does more than your executive order, meaning it's better.

Sure, if you enjoy having lots of inconsistencies in the statute.

It adds the removal of asbestos as a federal priority, backed by federal funding. Now that you've decided to be so active of late, would you mind doing your job as GM as well?
