I actually shall internet-support him strongly in the Republican primary.

You think he named his son Rand as a coincidence?

Actually, I read on the interweb that he was going to be on the show to make an important announcement, so I switched over from the history channel just to hear what it was.  I assumed it was to announce.

By the way, I never even realized this until you brought it up [lief, not me].

I hadn't either. Seems like something we would've noticed before.

He's not that bad. He doesn't have a chance (what's his face, that Republican AG or whatever, will win), but he seems to be a pretty good-looking/sounding candidate.

And his real first name is Randall, but, as Wikipedia explains: "He started going by 'Rand' instead of 'Randy' during his father's 1988 run for U.S. president as a Libertarian, in order to invoke the memory of novelist Ayn Rand; Paul was actively involved during this campaign as well as many of his father's successful Congressional runs."

[thanks for the explanation of "rand" -- that makes Ron Paul less crazy that he didn't name his kid that]

The Kentucky GOP primary right now is so confusing, it's one crazy guy and two guys that have already declared they'll run but won't run against the crazy guy.  The two other people are big proponents of Bunning.  Crazy.

KY Secretary of State Trey Grayson should be the odds-favorite at this point, but the Paul network is nothing to sneeze at in a low-turnout primary.  He's credible, but at a severe disadvantage.  Everything is so muddled right now that I wouldn't give Paul NO chance.

I won't comment further on Rand's chances 'till we hear more.

I hope that he fights well in his campaign against the forces of statism. At the same time, his name really disturbs me.

Well, it obviously wasn't a coincidence!
