The correspondig of the previouse topic.
I know this list contains 4 republicans for only 2 democrats. Please don't consider that as a lack of objectivity, but at worst as a lack of knowledge. I tried to examinate historians' opinion and popularity at hte end of the term. I can don't have done it well, but I did it in good faith.
And don't forget that you can vote for a president who is not on the list.

After having reflected, I gave my vote to Buchanan, rather than my other "finalists" Hoover and Bush. I can't forgive a man for supporting slavery even for this time's historical context.

Yeah, I noticed that. Smiley

It has a lot to do with the camps and the New Deal.

Sadly, the only Pennsylvania native was our worst President. His successor was our greatest.

Coherent with libertarian ideology. Nothing against that. Wink

You can find consolation in the fact that he was a democrat.

Yeah, but it's too early to judge Bush.  I think we need to wait at least 30 years before judging a President.

There's not much that could ever change my opinion of Dubya.

That said....Buchanan was clearly the worst President.

I voted Carter. Incapable and not intelligent enough for the job. He was 'installed' by the Christians just like Bush. And why is Nixon an option? A terrible person but a very effective leader.

You can say a lot about Carter....but he's most certainly not stupid.

1) Warren Harding
2) James Buchanan
3) Ulysses Grant
4) Andrew Johnson
5) Jimmy Carter

Bush doesn't even make the bottom 10 in my opinion.  He's in the bottom 20, but not bottom 10 or even bottom 5.

Harding didn't do very well cleaning up from WWI.
Buchanan comes very close to Harding, but just a hair better.
Grant was just a pure drunkard during the War and was horrible during Reconstruction in not starting to integrate the South
Johnson was the first President to be impeached
Carter was clearly a better ex-president than president.  Our problems with Saddam Hussein and with Iran started with him.  He was the first full post-Vietnam administration (Gerald Ford officially ended it in 1975.)

Johnson was the first President to be impeached

For purely political reasons.  He didn't deserve to be impeached.
