I must admit...unfortunately....as Afleitch....that I did not consider other aspects besides general regulation of content.

I will change my vote to NAY as well.

I hope that we can draft another bill that stips the FCC of that power, at least, though.

     Nay.

I would like to point out that we really should have the power to stop final votes when things like this come up.

How about this for a new bill:

Free Communications Bill

1. The Federal Communications Commission, nor any other federal agency, shall have the power to regulate the content of television or radio broadcasts.

Nay on the original Bill, Aye on the PiT Amendment (if allowed).

We can't stop a final vote once it starts. It would have to be introduced as a new bill, though I want to see if everybody agrees that it is a good fix first.

Thanks Bacon King for pointing out that flaw in the bill.  I'll change my vote to NAY and whether it is brought up as my own bill or PiT's I will vote AYE to the new bill.

I just proposed it in the legislation introduction thread. I request that, as soon as the Nuclear Power Advancement Bill moves off of the Senate floor, that the PPT would move it to the emergency slot, if you please. Smiley

I'm still open to suggestions as to the bill, though. I'd hate for it to reach another final vote & then find out that it is fatally flawed as well.

Also if there is interest in doing so, I would like to introduce a resolution to alter the OSPR to allow for a motion to resume discussion while a bill is undergoing final vote. It has happened twice in this session that we had to kill bills due to caveats that were discovered during the final vote.

This bill has enough votes to fail. Senators now have 24 hours to change their votes.
