Potato salad, though I'm particular about it. Pasta salad (italian dressing) and macaroni salad (mayo) are both typically solid choices. Cole slaw can be really hit or miss. I prefer mine with a vinegar base.

I didn't really mean to limit only to the mayonnaise kind.  I've had Potato, Pasta, and Cole with vinaigrette bases before.  I was just making a joke.

Nobody with taste puts mayonnaise on potato salad.

As a result, potato salad among people with taste is delicious.

Very true.  It seems that standard potato salad here now days is loaded with mayonnaise and mustard and eggs.. ugh
To me, good potato salad is potatoes, celery, onions, bacon, oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper.

Pasta salad.  Yes, I do have a lot of non-Irish tastes and prefer it to potato salad.  I also prefer my pasta salad that's Italian salad dressing based with salad supreme and veggies.  Bonus for sliced pepperoni and cherry peppers.

...

Pasta salad is not Italian; it's more American.

This was incredibly insulting but not surprising.
Maybe I'm reading what he said wrong, but he looks to be saying he likes his pasta salad to be made with an Italian salad dressing base and is making no assumptions as to where the food originated.

I like the potato salad my grandmother makes, but I hate any store-bought kind, and pretty much any that anyone else makes.
