Somewhere between Somewhat and Strongly Approve, but I'll vote Strongly Approve to cancel out the hacks.

Despite his spinelessness and his constant hypocrisies and flip-flops? I stand for my principles, not for people. I hope people here are sensible enough to do the same.

The only thing I was hugely disappointed on is the hangup on closing Gitmo, and that wasn't his fault.

What has he done that's anti-gay? Could act a bit quicker in some issues, but he hasn't set gays back any.

He's been more than severely disappointing, mostly because he offered so much hope and promise that he "got it" that gay people are humans too:

Weak disapprove, down from "whatever."

Yeah, politicians tend to be jackasses, but that doesn't mean they should be able to kick puppies without affecting our personal approvals of them.

Oh, believe me, I think the ridiculous hype of this guy is even more reason to disapprove. Of course your disappointment ought to lead to disapproval for the man. That being said, some of us weren't completely idiotic and didn't buy Mr. "Transcends Politics" nonsense.

I never did either, but I find his blatant ignorance towards large groups of people and his obvious flipflops (brilliantly delivered in an Orwellian style) really irritating. I can understand certain switches and half the time I don't care when someone changes positions on something, but when there are people out there who are constantly pressuring him and his administration to move on certain issues (Don't ask Don't tell, for instance) and the response we get is an effort to make sure everyone knows they're not doing a damn thing about it, it's frustrating.

There's also healthcare, where Obama also doesn't want to do anything radical, just hold hands and pretend we can work something out. Torture, where he's just acting like Bush-lite with a good smile, the economy, where he's too much of a wimp to do anything that's actually necessary, which ends up with a middle of the road strategy that's actually more harmful than doing nothing...

I don't know, I'm just tired of it. So tired of it I almost want to leave the party.

I don't see why being hyped is a reason to eviscerate someone.  We aren't the British music press.

I don't think anyone half-witted bought "transcends politics."  There are degrees to which someone can run a generally apolitical administration, hard to do know, but still toward the disappointing side of this administration to me.  And they have managed to be completely tepid on some issues under the guise of "moderation" they don't even have.  They're simultaneously being really passive and fairly clumsy.

I liked the promise of an administration that influenced intellectuals and academics (yea I know, egghead Adlai etc. Tongue), but I don't even see them drowning in unactionable theory or anything.  There just seems to be unnecessary capitulation and muddled leadership.
