Once again, constine backs up his argument with tons of evidence and talking points. Bravo. This kid should join his school's debate team if they have one, he'd be so amazing.

I'm on my school's Mock Congress Team, and finished 17th in the State this year.  Therefore, in the immortal words of our 46th Vice President, go fuck yourself.

So then maybe you should actually argue for your points instead of simply state your position and not back it up at all. It was done here, when you said Judaism would replace Christianity, and just about every time someone has said you don't live in the South.

I do end up arguing my points, usually.  I argued my point here, and regarding Judaism replacing Christianity.

The problem is that the arguments you posed were of such a lack in substance that they are hardly arguments.

I actually remember a ben argument which went like this:

Someone: You don't live in the South.
ben: Yes, I do.
Someone: How is Arlington the South? Is it rural? Do people have Southern accents? Is it full of Baptists? Are barbecue and fried chicken very popular? Do people care more about high school football than anything else? Is it full of people flying Confederate flags or bumper stickers? (tons of other questions)
ben: Barbecue and chicken are popular, yes.

So apparentely ben defines the South as anywhere barbecue and chicken are popular.

Also I still haven't seen where ben has explained why the temporary colonies are a good idea.

So has anyone bothered to draw us a terribly subjective map of what actually constitutes the south?

The "Is Arlington in the south?" discussion has to be the most ridiculous thing I've even seen dragged out on this forum.

I'd define the South as:

South of Prince William County, VA
North of Orange County, FL (also excluding the coasts)
East of Austin, TX

Roughly. Beyond that you can follow the Mason-Dixon line. There are obviously still pockets of non-Southern culture in that area (Like the Research Triangle in North Carolina), but at least they aren't tied to a distinctly non-Southern region like Arlington is.

Polk, Highlands, Desoto, Indian River, Hillsborough aren't in the South? LOLOLOLOL

1) Abolish selective service
2) Abolish legacy (AKA child of alum) bonuses in admissions at universities
3) Legalize public nudity except where a public health hazard
4) Discourage school-led recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance
5) Health care subsidies for all expenses related to a health condition that is genetically caused

Those aren't "crazy" at all. I'd actually support all of them (though I wouldn't actually push for 3 or 4, since the political costs are far greater than what would be gained by it).

Neither are the positions from the multiple people who have listed legalizing pot and/or prostitution.

So apparently ben defines the South as anywhere barbecue and chicken are popular.

That's an awfully narrow definition of the South, since real barbecue (slow cooked pork with a mustard-based sauce) is generally found only in about half of South Carolina.

I don't think any of my positions are all that crazy.

This.

But why is the thread located in Forum Community?

I have no real radical positions. I guess the only one is I believe that health care is an entirely state responsibility, and that I want to do away with social security. But I'm sure there are quite a few mainstream conservatives/libertarians who advocate these things already.
