Umm...people, don't we have a party rule that DA candidates ALWAYS get the endorsement?

That's quite pragmatic Tongue

Indeed. It seems to me an egregious oversight to have no means by which to withhold an endorsement from a party member.

I read the party bylaws. They say that a vote must be held if there is no DA candidate, but I see nothing about a protocol for what occurs if there is a DA candidate.

I do think we need a way to withhold endorsements from our own party members. Endorsements should be at the discretion of the President.

I have changed my endorsement vote to Marokai. All votes for Bayh and Gustaf will be deemed invalid unless delegates change their vote.

When does voting stop? We should really endrose someone before the voting starts.

OVR

President:

Hashemite 8

Dear Leader Hashemite is declared re-elected.

Deputy:

PS 8

Purple State is declared elected.

Endorsement:

AHDuke 4 (50%)
Marokai 2 (25%)
Abstain 2 (25%)

No official endorsement because Duke does not have 50%+1 of support.

Invalid votes: Fritz, as he is now a member of another party

So according to the first post the new president nominate a Secretary, then we vote on that person, right?

Sorry, if I'm being a pain in the butt.

I will be PMing people for the post of Secretary.

Bylaw amendments:

Section 1, Part A, Clause 1: add sub-clause (iii)

(iii) The vote will last atleast 24 hours and require a quorum of DA members' votes cast to serve as valid.

Section 1, Part A, Clause 2: add sub-clause (i)

(iii) The vote will last atleast 24 hours and require a quorum of DA members' votes cast to serve as valid.

Section 2, Part A change to:

(A) Regular conventions will be held every four months after the conclusion of the last convention.

Section 3 change to:

(A) For all elections, an official party endorsement vote will be held. These may be held during a convention or at any time at the discretion of the President.

(B) For a candidate to receive official endorsement by the Democratic Alliance, he must receive the support of the majority of DA members voting.

Section 2, Part A change to:

(A) Regular conventions will be held every four months after the conclusion of the last convention.

I realized last night that this is not actually workable. This would push each convention later and later and throw them off the election cycles. Instead, it should state:

(A) Regular conventions will be held every three to four months after the start of the last convention.
