Duke seems to be gaining a little, maybe he still has a shot.

Nope.

Peter's vote was utterly predictable.

He didn't vote for PD this time. If anything, I was shocked.

Maybe he thinks you're close enough to PD?

Turnout after two days of voting is now 91% of total turnout in the April elections. It's slowed considerably, but I think we're still on track to beat April's General Election numbers. Smiley

We could hit 70+ later this month. Granted much of the votes are coming from very new members, but nothing wrong with active newbies.

I'm hoping to top 80, maybe even 90, for the Presidential election.

Granted... but I really couldn't see him ordering the declared candidates in any other order.

As it appears I've been smashingly elected, I'd like to thank everyone who voted for me, and put their misgivings about my attitude aside Wink

I will work hard to bring more debate to each and every bill I can in the Senate, and represent the first solid liberal alternative we've had since the great former-Senate Lief sadly lost re-election. I look forward to joining my future colleagues as soon as the results have been formally declared, and I wish my successor well.

Bumping this to keep it on the first page. I'm interested to see how the amendment voting pans out.

I'm happy to see the Mideast does not wish to impose its own actions on other regions.

Will you therefore be abstaining on all Senate votes that would impose actions on other regions?
Do you support regional independence?

The issue of regions v. federal government is not a black and white issue by any stretch. I have by and large supported the expansion of federal powers (I supported the 22nd Amendment which gave new powers to the Senate, and have generally supported increased commerce regulation). I have voted against this Amendment because I feel it is transferring control of social issues away from the people, which I have long believed belong with the People in order to increase participation at the grass roots level.

I generally prefer to defer matters to the regions, as I believe we discussed during my campaign. I do believe that, in certain instances of "public good," the federal government needs to step in and compel the regions to act. However, I do not believe the death penalty is such an instance because I do not morally oppose capital punishment. I think for financial reasons it is a sensible thing to do, but I will leave that up to the regions themselves.

Is JewishConservative eligible to vote in this election?  You know, the ten-day thing.

The voting booth instructions say you have to be registered on or before June 11.

That makes JewishConservative's vote invalid.....same is true for Barnes, I just noticed.

Is that based in 7 days or ten days? And why is Gporter invalid?

Not sure what it's based on....I just read the SOFA's instructions Smiley

GPORTER's vote is invalid because the ballot was edited more than 20 minutes after the original post.

What about Gustaf voting twice?  Course he could fix that by deleting one of them...

Good thing I registered right in time to take part in this voting. I'm a bit worried by PiT being behind, but this is just absentee voting so hopefully that'll change. What day is the actual election day btw?

The absentee voting thing is a little bit silly, it's just another voting booth that opens earlier than the "non-absentee" booth.  Why not just have one thread that is open for the entire time period?

Anyway, the absentee booth should be closed Thursday night/Friday morning at midnight, and the official booth opened at the same time.
