It is very encouraging to see Oklahoma in the fifth quintile.

My hometown is already basically unrecognizable from when I lived there. You got densely populated neighborhoods that were wheatfields when I was in high school.

It's not like ND actually grows really fast in population. It stagnated over the past 9 years.

Only 2 counties are somewhat growing: Cass and Burleigh.

that's b/c there's nowhere to go but up for states that didn't already have a high GDP.  It's the same reason why developing countries always have higher growth rates than developed nations.  The other reason of course is that the collapse of certain industries didn't really affect states without urban centers.

That map is all resource-bubble based.  Long since dead.

I thought it was because developing nations couldn't afford contraceptives?

I wonder why Alaska is so low? They're pretty well off, I would think.

I like how MInnesota and Washington both grew at the same rate, yet they're in the 5th quintile and we're in the 4th.  Sucks to be us, I guess.

Texas is also +2.0 and in the 4th; rounding error of course.

Go Colorado!

I'm surprised Arizona lost population considering they're supposed to gain 2 EVs in the coming reapportionment. Though it makes sense, I heard the housing crisis hit them hard.

It's not population in the map, it's the change in GDP.

If it were population, I doubt North Dakota would be #1, or close to that.

Demonstrating that we have been reverting toward an economy based upon farming, ranching, mining, and logging -- that we are de-industrializing and our shell game of finance and real-estate speculation isn't working as well as it did recently.
