Is it foreseeable in our lifetime, and if so, which party will nominate him (or her)? Bill Richardson gave it a shot in 2008 but realized that challenging an African American and a woman was pretty hopeless. Who are some other leading and presidential-like Hispanic politicians who could one day occupy the Oval Office?

Very likely, at least for the democrats. But I don't see it before almost two decades.

The first Hispanic President will be from the Republican party, just like the first Woman President.

It really depends on how fast Hispanics organize politically. I don't mean just voting one way or another, but really forming a political machine to get elected. That has sort of happened in New Mexico, and it has definitely happened in South Florida (though Cubans are very different from other Hispanics). If they can do this, the possibility for a charismatic Governor or Senator to win becomes quite possible. But to do this the southwest (minus Utah) needs to be united behind them 100%. Really it is a long process in which you organize at a state and regional level, thus gaining clout with a national party, then you can more easily nominate a candidate. It happened with the Irish-Catholics in 1960, due to Joe Kennedy and the rest of the northeastern Irish paying their dues and helping to elect Democrats (and Truman).
