Is McCain regretting Palin now?

McCain needed a game changer and Palin was a game changer.  Perhaps picking Romney or Pawlenty may have gotten him closer, but he would not have won.  He needed someone to shake things up, maybe he didn't pick the right person to shake things up but he picked someone who gave him a better chance to win.

Another person who was just as conservative but less eratic would have Tennessee Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn. She would have been far less damaging in the suburbs and just as successful at rallying the base.

He's regretted Palin since she first opened her mouth.

I think he understood that he'd never be able to get away with putting a fanook on the ticket.

Oh, they could've doctored a marriage for him.  After all, it sort of worked for Crist. 

While Ridge would have been his best running mate (and easily the most likely of the three), I do think Graham would've been better than Lieberman.  And I doubt he would've pissed as many people off as did Palin, gay rumors or not.  I do wonder, though, if gay>Muslim in the minds of fools.

BTW, I don't think I've ever heard "fanook" before.  Is it an NYC thing?

Well, I can't say what is McCain thinking, but in his place I will regret.

Maybe not because of electoral puropuses, as he was going, for a number of reasons (like economy, George W. Bush and republican fatique) to lose, but with more credible running-mate (as you know I'm not supporter of Republican Party, but I can say there were much more credible and able possibilities, such as Huntsman, Crist or if he really wanted to pick a woman above all someone like Hutchison or Snowe) he'd do better.

McCain really should regret because now, despite his all previous accomplishment (which I can't deny him, in fact until 2004 he was one of the hanbdful Republicans I've respected ) he is going down with history as a man who wanted to place immature and irresponsible (as her resignation showed) provincional, unexperienced governor heartbeat away from the button.

Oh yes, that';s something to regret!

Palin was a game changer.  However, I think it would be more apporpriate to call her a game ender for McCain.  She certainly made my vote alot easier.

the game-ender for McCain was "the fundamentals of our economy are strong." Of course, having Palin making an idiot of herself all over the TV at the same time didn't help.
