I think Muon is the only one with his own Wikipedia page, if that counts for something

Link?

He is the mayor of some small city in Illinois, though I can't remember where off the top of my head.  IIRC its somewhere between Chicago and Rockford.

I thought he was a member of the Illinois State House.

EDIT: Yup, found it. I won't "out" him with a link, but if you do a little digging you can find it.

I don't remember his real name, so....

I have been on TV a couple of times. First was for 6ABC's "Best of the Class" program, where I answered some question about Iraq. And the second one was for the local Comcast station when they were doing a segment about the upcoming election, where I basically called Obama a socialist. Smiley

lol, have you ever visited your state legislature and talked to the legislators?  They're all essentially one-issue politicians, except for an elite few.

Yeah, I work for one.  Tongue

If I was to ever use the phrase "owned" this would probably be the time.

He was the mayor of West Chicago.  In 2006 he was elected to the 95th district of the Illinois House.

I don't want to directly link to his page either, but hopefully that's given you enough to go on.

I could see lots of people doing local government stuff, Afleitech doing something very important in the Parliament, Phil becoming a Senator. Yeah there is tons of potential for a famous Atlas Forumite.

After the Air Force, I have my eyes on maybe a state Senate seat, then hopefully making it to the U.S. Senate
Yea feasible like me becoming the local sheriff, but and statements and or stances/ out bursts on this forum can be used against you.

And ya by then who will remember?   But these things have a odd way of poping up.

Not for those of us who didn't use our real names.  Didn't anybody ever tell you not to do that?  We'll be fine.

When I was still considering a run for PA State House, I actually started a project of going through my some 14,000 posts at the time and deleted many that I would not be proud of... but, as things were, I quickly came to my senses and decided against doing it.

It is somewhat of a goal of mine to take back the Class I Senate seat by defeating Casey in 2018 (LOL @ the thought of him being in DC for that long but just go along with it) and returning it to its rightful holder. I'd resign after a few days if the Governor would agree to appoint Rick.

eh, I'm just being sarcastic.  U.S. Senator is probably not going to happen, but I could definitely see a house seat... if you wanted it bad enough.

I don't know why but he strikes me as a perfect politican. Maybe it is that hint of arrogance he has whenever he posts. Tongue

You could just cane another senator though and you wouldn't have to resign

Nah... the Catholic Church is still using quills and parchment.  They wouldn't know how to find them.

The point is that the Class I Senate seat here is Rick's seat. I'd resign it and let him have it.

Oh, misread your comment... while those ones would have gone, had I chosen to do this, I though you said "Like when you were talking about...." for some odd reason, which I figured was a dig against my many sudden changes of heart over the years.

Well, those likely would have been on the list, along with my drunken posts, my posts about not doing well with women, almost anything the pertained to my life story, and many other things.  I actually would probably have been further ahead to just shut my account down.

I was asked to run for a State Senate seat once.  And for an at-large seat on county council.  I had to laugh both times.  I have good ideas, but no "fire in the belly".  I'm also not sure I want anyone rooting around in my past.  Hell, some of the things I have posted in these forums might be enough to doom a budding political career.

You think Obama's association with Jeremiah Wright was damning?  People would say, "You can't vote for JSojourner.  He's on the same forum as BRTD."  That would about do it.  <grin>

You know, JS, in my incipient senescence, I suspect someone who ran for office and let it all hang out in a calm way, about who we are and why, the good bad and the ugly,  and was that way about public policy issues as well, thoughtful, considered and open, would win office in a landslide, particularly more local ones. The thing is, is that most political types simply don't have a sufficient level of self confident and reflective  and indeed, dare I say it, moral, imagination, to even ponder the possibilities in their innermost fantasies, of just letting it all happen - to just do it!

Am I making any sense at all to anyone?

I've thought this for years but have never really mentioned it or heard anyone else say it. 100% agree.

I'll win the Nobel Prize in economics, and I'll mention you all in my acceptance speech as the bunch of ignoramuses who drove me to economics so I could beat them in internet arguments. Tongue

I have to be careful too. My family history isn't the cleanest either. And the fact that my friends got arrested in April don't help either.
