At the conventions you always see signs for democrats abroad or Republicans abroad.  i assume these are Americans living in foriegn countries but voting absentee right?

Do they have any other activities through out the years between the pres elections.  Like do they have meetings or something?  I am just curious to know what they do or are they just voting blocs every four years.

Thanks I knew you guys would know

In the primaries, the idea of "Americans Abroad" is to serve American citizens who have no permanent residence in the U.S.  Some do have permanent residences, but choose to cast their votes under Americans Abroad because their home state has a caucus system, or really for whatever reason.

In the looser sense, "Americans Abroad" political organizations include those with residences in the U.S. but who cast their ballots from foreign mailing addresses (legally or otherwise Tongue)

Do they have any other activities through out the years between the pres elections.  Like do they have meetings or something?  I am just curious to know what they do or are they just voting blocs every four years.

Pretty sure the Democrats Abroad have a pretty robust organization (http://www.democratsabroad.org/).  Republicans Abroad (http://www.republicansabroad.org/) tends to focus more on GOTV among active military personnel.

I don't recall making fun of your culture, even though I'm no fan of Italy. So, lay off.

In that case, I misread. My apologies, though I do strongly defend my culture and country when attacked.

As I recall, the main distinction is that Democrats Abroad sends a delegate to the DNC while Republicans Abroad does not send a delegate to the RNC.
