Not buying it, even so I think Lonegan would have a shot against Corzine

*waits for laughter from Dems*

Well, with approval ratings like Corzine's even Dick Cheney would have a shot.

No, Cheney's rating is lower.

Republicans in New Jersey have fantasized forever about pulling a Torricelli of their own, but it's never actually happened.  Being out of power, there is absolutely no incentive for otherwise loyal Republicans to fall on their sword for the common good.  They can't threaten to pull plum jobs from family members, nor can they promise a soft landing as a reward for jumping out of the plane.

Similarly, Democrats have nothing to get Corzine out of the race.  It would be entirely out of the goodness and partisanship of his own heart.  (After Andrews tilted at the windmill last year, most Democrats are likely to be gunshy about challenging an incumbent.)  While it does seem unlikely that Corzine would withdraw just for Democrats to hold the seat, it seemed even more unlikely for Bob Torricelli to do so.

So who knows.  New Jersey election law sucks.

First, I suspect that IF the Republican nominee does beat the Democrat there will be considerable (and largely unwarranted) bleating that that result is an example of rejection of Obamaism.

Second, to me the real question is whether the actions of the incumbent have finally reached a level where even the voters of New Jersey are unable to once again vote for the Democrat?

Third, have the Republicans in New Jersey finally gotten their act together?

NJ Republicans aren't bad at all. Lonegan is not getting the nod, and that is all that needs to be done.

Received the Lonegan newspaper thing today, I think has big scandal may be in there.

He says that Christie wanted to run as a pro-choice, pro-gay, anti-gun Democrat for state senate on a ticket with Florio at the top.  Seriously that's not gaining any traction

It's not "my crap." I was told by someone involved in one of the campaigns. It should be coming out in a few weeks. Just stay tuned.

Character assassination wouldn't work, in this instance. It will hit the attacker, unless the accused's ratings are low.

People want a fresh face (not Corzine) that isn't overly conservative (not Lonegan). Who does that leave?

Another mandate for The Corrupted if Christie is destroyed by a scandal, sadly.

Just a heads up, Quinnipiac should be releasing their monthly NJ poll this week.
