58% Dissapproval among Independents. Oh why can't the election be this year.

Bev Perdue (D-NC):

25% Approve
55% Disapprove

Bahaha, good job.  McCrory was the obviously better choice, even the Perdue voters can see that now.

Why are her ratings so abysmal?

I can't believe that's just because of the economy. North Carolina isn't exactly Michigan or Ohio and to sink that low you must exhibit a deadly combination of ineptness AND corruption ala Bob Taft and Rod Blagojevich.

For years now the Democrats in NC have had a slew of scandals but people ignored them caused the coincided with GOP scandals nationally and the State Dems took advantage of the National woes of the GOP. It could be that one of the factors was the corruption that has been revealed concerning former Gov Mike Easley. Whereas before it was isolated State Reps and Sens that were being popped the Dems can't hide from a big time figure like Easley, everybody knows him, knows he is a Dem, and his scandals and his wife's have been plastered on the news for the past 4 months. As for Perdue she is not a unifying figure, she is not the type that would have popularity just fall on her on like Obama. She is instead someone who at least now motivates just as much if not more passionate opposition and hate then was exibited for Bush in this state.

100,000 votes in Mecklenburg county made the difference in the last election, 3% of the overall total. Most likely its Obama, the people of this state have to thank for Perdue.

McCrory for Governor 2012!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, you can thank the rural voters who split their tickets for McCain/Perdue. McCrory came within a percent of winning Mecklenberg County, as that's his home. Look at the maps:

Obama/McCain:

Perdue/McCrory:

Actually on the State level its near impossible for Republicans to win those Eastern rural voters that go GOP at the Federal Level. Its kind of like OH were the Southeast votes GOP for Pres but Dem at the state level. McCrory's strategy was simply to win Mecklenburg county, that was his only chance. Look at the other races like Lt. Gov and such and you will see the same thing with those rural counties. He did poorly out in some Western counties two which was a little surprising but McCrory is an Urban/Suburban type candidate in a state still largely comprised of Small Towns and rural areas.
