Johnson picks rising Republican star Senator Arthur Vandenberg of Michigan for Vice President.
With the Republicans having held power from 1921 until the 1932 election, the depression hitting during their tenure, and the nation plunged into the most serious economic situation in history, there would be no question as to the electorate replacing the Republicans with the Democrats in the White House. It would simply be a matter of how large the Democratic win would be.
Johnson runs a stronger and more aggressive campaign than Hoover, and improves the Republicans showing marginally, however, as expected, Roosevelt still wins a massive victory.
