Let's just say that McCain gets a bunch load of write in votes in the Democratic primaries(McCain actually got a little write in votes, if I'm correct McCain took 3rd in the D-NH Primary) and let's say write inn's carry McCain over Gore and to the Democratic nomination.

Bush still wins against McCain in the Republican Primaries and choose Dick Cheney as his VP candidate still.

McCain begrudgingly takes the Democratic nomination after some soul searching and saying that it was "The will of the people and there votes" that gave McCain the Democratic Nomination.

So what happens in this "Bush vs McCain 2000" election? Discuss, with maps if you wish.

People forget that McCain was a lot more liberal in the 2000 campaign, even nominally pro-choice. He would have probably moved a lot more to the left on social issues, or at least sufficiently hold Democrats.

Also remember, he won the democratic primaries, he did not receive the nomination Humphrey style.
