I realize that this scenario may be unrealistic, but it is a fun idea nonetheless.

Hillary Clinton does not drop out in the 2008 race and takes the nomination to the convention. There, Obama wins the nomination narrowly, despite Clinton's attempts at swinging super-delegates to her side. Claiming that she, supposably, won the popular vote, and that she should be the rightful nominee, she begins a run as a Independent Democrat, much like Liebermann in Conneticut. Everything progresses much as it did in OTL, right on to election day. Also, I believe Clinton would be involved in the debates as well.

John McCain/Sarah Palin (Republican)
Barack Obama/Joe Biden (Democrat)
Hillary Clinton/Wesley Clark (Independent Democrat)

I think the popular would go something like this: McCain 44, Obama 34, Clinton 21

Hillary would do best in Appalachia, the Rust Belt, and would receive double digits in some heavily Hispanic states.

She would do worst in the Mormon Belt and heavily white Western States, and the Deep South as well.

Hillary would probably get about 14 million votes. Personally, I would be undecided, but once the economy collapsed, I would probably end up voting for Hillary.

McCain wins in a landslide, thanks to split voting. Also, he chooses Pawlenty instead of Palin, since there is already a woman running.

McCain/Pawlenty: 43.4%
Obama/Biden: 39.5%
Clinton/Clark : 17.1%

I wished this happended. I'd vote McCain. Unless he picked a Liberal VP. Then I'd be on the Hillary express.

That makes sense. Vote for a liberal because McCain picked a liberal.
