No. The firing of inactive government members is a good thing, it keeps things moving.

This is out of hand. Stevenick is being removed to soon. I mean this is partisanship to the extreme. I will be moving for the Southeast Region to nullify this law.

He hasn't posted since September 24. We can't just let our Senators be inactive with no consequence. It undermines the whole government.

You just want to use this law to fill the senate with Democrats and those with your viewpoint. This law is a joke.

The 24th? That is 13 days ago! I think we need to change the way it works in the Senate but the answer is not to repeal it, it should be reformed, the three votes in the Senate is not a good method as we often have three votes coming up at the same time.

Who would take the seat? District 5 is in the hands of the GOP/UAC.

I believe my bill works. I think all that needs to be done is just change the time before a Senate recall. Raising the missed votes from 3 to 6 would work, yet it clearly states that if you know you are leaving in advance, to say and nothing you miss goes against you.

The Federal Activity Bill has really done more in the Cabinet. We have a good Secretary of State and our new Treasury Secretary is actually doing something.

There is no partisanship whatsoever going on here.  As Secretary of Forum Affairs, I would seek to uphold this law, regardless of the party membership of those affected by it.

The Southeast region does not have the authority to nullify federal laws, and even if the court rules that it does....this law applies to federal office holders only, not to regional office holders.  I fail to see what nullifying this law in the southeast region would accomplish.  It would not, for example, prevent StatesRights or Harry (the district 4 senators) from being removed from office for inactivity.

You don't seem to understand that, the bill does not remove the Senators. It puts them up for recall, like Davis, with first asking them if they want a new Senator and then who they would like to replace him. Its up to the voters in the end.

Ok, I honestly think there's a solution in the middle here.  Being absent indefinately and inexplicably is the problem the bill was designed to prevent.

Instead of repealing the entire law, perhaps it can be ammended to more appropriate parameters with regard to legislators.  A specific amount of time instead "three consecutive missed votes" which in this case came pretty dern fast.

I have done more for this forum than the majority of those who have served in the senate.  I leave for less than two weeks and people are howling for me to be ousted?  I think this episode has laid bare some of the major problems with this bill.

I agree.  Even if we raised it from 3 to 6 votes missed, theoretically they could all come to a close on the same single day a legislator wasn't able to check in.

Welcome back, Senator.

And I'd like to mention Secretary Fritz's diligence of duty in this matter...he was howling about obeying the law of the land, not in anticipation of the chance to remove a Senator.
