"I'm prepared to sign [the certification] as soon as they give the green light," Pawlenty said. “I’m not going to defy an order of the Minnesota Supreme Court. That would be a dereliction of my duty."

So when's this going to happen then?

HAHA! he's been putting his presidential aspirations ahead of the people of Minnesota since November and now that it's a done deal he worries about duty.

No he doesn't. He wants Coleman to get it. But he'd look like an idiot (as well as damage his 2012 chances) if he refuses to sign.

You're kinda missing the part where he hasn't been able to do anything until all of the court cases played out. It would have been ILLEGAL for him to sign an election certificate.

actually refusing to sign the certificate to seat Franken might help him in the Republican primary (though it would hurt him in the General)

I really doubt the General electorate would care much.

you're probably right, but it doesn't help to be seen as a hack who denies his state its full representation in the senate for blatantly partisan reasons.

He could have provisionally seated Franken if he wasn't worried about primary voters.

Actually, he couldn't. Read Minnesota election law, he couldn't do anything because of the court cases. Stop blatantly lying.
