I just got back from the 6th annual D4th of July, and two of the guys in the third band as a joke wore American flags as capes basically over their clothes, just cut a hole and put it over the head. They also had one flying in the back. When the fourth/second to last band came up, they threw the flag off the stage with a crowdsurfer. As a result it got handled by a bunch of drunk scene kids, and eventually dropped and stepped all over. At the end of the set it was a tattered and torn mess, that was simply picked up and thrown in trash.

And then for the grand finale with D4, someone lit the mini flag the bass player had sticking out of his bass on fire and it burnt to a crisp.

On a whole, that show was insanely fun. Beyond words.

It sounds unnecessarily obnoxious.

It wouldn't so much offend me as annoy the hell out of me.  

I remember my sophomore year of college we had all these bands playing and this little scrawny "scene" kid started trying to mosh to something un-moshworthy like a Maroon 5 cover and this much bigger guy just picked him up and carried him to the edge of the crowd... that was pretty hilarious.

I'm not surprised.

After their final set the floor was drenched in sweat. Some of my friends left the floor a little early because it got too hot and sweaty. Sucks for them.

As far as here, I wouldn't even have noticed anything that anybody might conceivably find offensive.

I don't think they were trying to be "edgy", more like simply being drunk. I mean it was a 21+ show, how many people at such a show are going to be impressed by doing stuff like that for shock value?
